Pictures from a day spent at the Mid Hants Railway celebrating 40 years since the end of southern steam, putting on a terrific steam gala. Some members of the fleet had been specially renumbered and weathered, creating an atmosphere similar to that of 40 years ago. 60019 'Bittern' was running its first passenger hauled train on the Mid Hants, and looked and sounded superb. 37248 was also pictured at Alton arriving with 1Z82 from Victoria, a mainline special going to Alresford. Being a working volunteer and holding PTS I was able to go lineside and obtain shots that others could not, giving perhaps a different perspective to the gala.
